Color Zones & Materials

Ghost saddles are available in standard leather, Julia leather, nubuck, oiled (greased) nubuck, synthetic Lorica, synthetic Micropell, and synthetic Castello & Borgo which looks and feels like calf leather. General leather colors are black, brown, sometimes tan, burgundy. The brown ranges in color across materials so please ask if you're worried about color  combinations. I don't put nubuck on the saddle selection page, but you can order it. The reason is that it does eventually smooth and shine anywhere there's contact, so becomes like oiled nubuck but not evenly over the product. Leather will be more slippery than nubuck. Lorica has a nice look like nubuck, with a bit of knap to it, but it is thinner and more obviously synthetic. Still a great option for all weather riders! Micropell has a nice heft to it, much more similar to regular leather - and a bit slicker as well. Oiled nubuck has been the most popular choice and most of the demos have this option. If you know of something you'd really like used, it may be possible - just ask and I'll find out if possible and if there's an extra charge.

Some suggestions regarding wool - you can choose an entirely wool saddle under the Agnello options. This is most recommended for the Quevis and Quilty as the long flap will be rubbed bare over time by lower leg motion. Real sheepskin is also available now in four colors (white, natural, brown, black). It's more expensive but holds up beautifully and cleans nicely too. No price difference for just the seat in sheepskin, but the full sheepskin option would cost the same as leather. White or black wool (real wool but with synthetic backing) is still available for a great price.

Another note - oiled nubuck is real leather. Leather is roughed to make nubuck, then oiled to make a softer, almost broken in leather which is a bit softer and grippier than standard leather.

Julia Leather - this is very nice leather, with some vegetable tanned available at an extra cost
